FCT’s Garden of Eden and Relative Strangers Score Big at NVTA Competition

Congratulations to the cast and crew of our one act entries to the NVTA competition this June.  We are proud of the combined 9 nominations and 4 wins!

Garden of Eden:  The True Underdog Story of Peoplekind , an original play by Greg Powell was the NVTA winner for Best Overall Production as well as Best Original play. The play takes place “ In the Beginning” and provides a comical, irreverant, and in some ways moving interpretation of the Bible’s story of the birth of mankind.  Directed by Lori Muhlstein (nomination Best Director), Garden featured Ted Ballard (nomination Best Actor) as God; Brian Doyle (nomination Best Supporting Actor) as Adam;  McCall Noelle Doyle (winner Best Supporting Actress) as Eve; and, Carl Nubile (voice from above). The Tree of Knowledge designed by Lori Muhlstein and Amy Hard won a Judges’ Discretionary award.  Thanks also go to Sallie Willows (Stage Manager) and Amy Hard (Technical Director).

In Relative Strangers (published entry), a young airline passenger decides that the woman seated next to her might be the mother she never had. The play featured the talents of Mona Kay Helper (nomination Best Actress), Christine Lowry (nomination Best Actress), Penny McKee, and Greg Crowe (airline pilot voice).  Sallie Willows directed and Olivia McDonough stage managed.  Also, thanks to Ted Ballard for his assistance.

Did you miss seeing Garden of Eden or can’t get enough and want to see it again?  Mark your calendar for October 31 because we will be making an encore appearance at the VTA community theatre one act competition at Centreville High School.  The winner goes on to represent the state in the Southeast regionals.  Get entertained and cheer on the FCT family!  Watch the web site for more details.
