Seth and Carter are cousins. When Seth sees his cousin’s dilemma as an opportunity to prove he’s not as self-centered as he once thought, he offers his kidney to Carter. What follows is the story of two cousins going through the happy, sad, funny, frustrating, and emotional process of an organ transplant while also getting to know one another for the first time. “Kidney Beans” is a comedic drama about family, friends, and maturity.

Cast requirements include (2) 25-35 aged Males, (1) 16-24 aged Male, (2) 16-24 aged Females, (1) 16-24 aged Japanese Male, (1) 25-35 aged Black Male, (2) 40-60 aged Males, (2) 40-60 aged Females, (1) 35-70 aged Male, (1) 35-70 aged Female, (1) 40-70 aged Female, (1) 6-13 aged Male, (1) 25-45 aged Female, (1) 4-10 aged Male, (1) 11-16 aged Male.

Fauquier Community Theatre is sponsoring auditions for this up and coming talented director, in his film “Kidney Beans.” Questions should be addressed to kidneybeansmovie@gmail.com

You may, but it is not required, prepare a comedic or dramatic short monologue

One Act Festival

Weekend Performance Dates: July 9, 10, 11, 2010

The One Act festival will be a performance of 3 One Acts entitled Check Please, 13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview, and Little Women.

We will be holding auditions for these One Acts at the white building located at 4260 Sigler Rd, Warrenton, VA, 20187

Auditions for One Act’s Check Please and 13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview:
Friday, May 7, 2010 from 7:00-9:00 pm
Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 12:00-2:00 pm

Auditions for One Act Little Women:
Saturday, May 22 from 10:00-12:00 pm

Check Please by Jonathan Rand
Need 14 actors- 7 males, 7 females ranging in age from 8- 60, most ages in the 16- 23 range
Auditions will consist of cold- readings from the script
Rehearsals will be once a week.

Dating can be hard. Especially when your date happens to be a raging kleptomaniac, or your grandmother’s bridge partner, or a mime. Check Please follows a series of blind dinner dates that couldn’t get any worse- until they do. Could there possibly be a light at the end of the tunnel?

For any questions email director Hannah Marie Malinowski at lilactresshannah@comcast.net

13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview by Ian McWethy
Need 16 actors- 6 males, 7 females, 3 either, ranging in age from 16- 40, most in the 16- 20 range
Auditions will consist of cold- readings from the script

When two college recruiters at a prestigious university need to fill one last spot to keep their jobs, thirteen eccentric, dimwitted and slightly- insane high school seniors are eager to come in for an interview. What seems like a simple task turns into a nightmare when the applicants turn out to be a reality TV star, a practicing vampire, an amateur magician, and others that are much, much worse. Each applicant’s interview hilariously illustrates what NOT to do at a college interview.

For any questions email director Hannah Marie Malinowski at lilactresshannah@comcast.net

Little Women Adapted by Marisha Chamberlain
This is a One Act version, not the full musical.

Under the guidance of their beloved mother, the four young March sisters — tempestuous Jo, motherly Meg, shy Beth, and spoiled baby Amy — struggle to keep their family going while Father’s away in the Civil War. In this beautifully dramatized adaptation of the classic novel, even as privation, illness, and sibling rivalry cast their shadows, each girl strives to find her true self.

Cast requirements: 5 Teen Girls 12-18, 2 Teen Boys 15-18, 1 Woman 30-40, 1 Woman 40-50, 1 Man 30-40, 1 Man 50-60s

For any questions email Director Evelyn Rice at eveyluvstheatre@aol.com

The grant is to assist in upgrading the theatre’s lighting system. Since the theatre building currently in use for productions is aging, much of the associated equipment is also aging. An upgraded lighting system will significantly enhance the quality of the productions as well as provide a better and more stable rehearsal environment.

FCT wishes to thank NPCF for its interest in supporting community activities and enabling us to continue providing entertainment and educational experiences in out local community.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of our one act entries to the NVTA competition this June. We are proud of the combined 9 nominations and 4 wins!

Garden of Eden: The True Underdog Story of Peoplekind , an original play by Greg Powell was the NVTA winner for Best Overall Production as well as Best Original play. The play takes place “ In the Beginning” and provides a comical, irreverant, and in some ways moving interpretation of the Bible’s story of the birth of mankind. Directed by Lori Muhlstein (nomination Best Director), Garden featured Ted Ballard (nomination Best Actor) as God; Brian Doyle (nomination Best Supporting Actor) as Adam; McCall Noelle Doyle (winner Best Supporting Actress) as Eve; and, Carl Nubile (voice from above). The Tree of Knowledge designed by Lori Muhlstein and Amy Hard won a Judges’ Discretionary award. Thanks also go to Sallie Willows (Stage Manager) and Amy Hard (Technical Director).

In Relative Strangers (published entry), a young airline passenger decides that the woman seated next to her might be the mother she never had. The play featured the talents of Mona Kay Helper (nomination Best Actress), Christine Lowry (nomination Best Actress), Penny McKee, and Greg Crowe (airline pilot voice). Sallie Willows directed and Olivia McDonough stage managed. Also, thanks to Ted Ballard for his assistance.

Did you miss seeing Garden of Eden or can’t get enough and want to see it again? Mark your calendar for October 31 because we will be making an encore appearance at the VTA community theatre one act competition at Centreville High School. The winner goes on to represent the state in the Southeast regionals. Get entertained and cheer on the FCT family! Watch the web site for more details.
