Audition FAQ

Q. Do I have to prepare anything for auditions, or just show up?
A: Please see the “Be Prepared” Section of the audition info on the website. Typically you need to register online for auditions by clicking into the “Register” link and prepare a monologue or song for auditioning.

Q: Do I show up anytime during the audition time period or am I given a specific time to audition?
A: Please arrive promptly at the beginning time noted for the audition date that you have chosen unless you receive an email from the director prior to the audition weekend that prompts you otherwise. Typically, you are not given a specific time slot but instructions will be given to you at the beginning of audition time.

Q: What if there is inclement weather?
A: If you are questioning whether an audition will be held or not. Please check the FCT website under the auditions tab, check the Facebook event page for those specific auditions, or call 540-349-8760 and wait for a return call. It is extremely rare that FCT will cancel an audition or performance due to weather. But please make the best determination possible for your situation and we will make up your audition time if not coming was due to weather.

Q: Do I really have to attach my photo or headshot to the audition form?
A: Yes, the director will use your photo during the selection process.

Q: Should I attach an acting resume event if I have little experience in acting?
A: If you have any acting experience at all, please tell us. If you do not, that is ok! We would love for you to start your acting experience with us!

Q: What if I do not have any prior experience in acting whatsoever?
A: That is ok! We would love for you to start your acting experience with us!

Q: What is the rehearsal schedule like?
A: Rehearsals are typically 3 times a week until the week before opening night. For that week, plan on everyday rehearsals in the evenings starting with Saturday thru Thursday. Rehearsals are usually not scheduled until the show is cast and the director has time to look over conflicts in order to present the best possible rehearsal schedule.

Q: How will I be notified for callbacks?
A: You will be called and invited to come to callbacks. If you are not called, it does not mean that you have not been cast, it just means the director did not need to see you act/sing again. You will be called after the callbacks and the director or producer will relay the cast decisions to you.

Q: How will I be notified if I have/have not been cast?
A: You will be called sometime the day after Callbacks.

Q: Do I have to pay some kind of membership/activities fee if I am cast?
A: Yes, everyone who is in an FCT production, must be a member of FCT. Membership fees are $20 for youth ages 17 and under and $25 for adults. You can always sign up to be at a higher membership level with a higher donation amount.
