The play Calendar Girls written by Tim Firth: When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Women’s Institute members to pose with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence.

The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their newfound fame. Based on the true story of eleven older women who posed nude (no nudity is in this production) for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls opened at the Chichester Festival Theatre and has since become the fastest-selling play in British theatre history.

Fauquier Community Theatre’s production of Calendar Girls is directed by Scott Olson and produced by Maggie Swan. Calendar Girls is by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.

Munro Murgatroyd is the classic villain in the play who is intent on selling some land underhandedly to the railroad. Enjoy some laughter and find out what happens at the crossroads! The play is directed by Marty Kelly, written by Bill Johnson, and produced by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.

Casting Call October, 2025! Fauquier Community Theatre will be holding auditions for the classic melodrama play Dirty Work at the Crossroads! Auditions are open to the public and will take place on Wednesday October 15, 2025 from 7 pm to 10:00 pm and Friday October 17, 2025 from 7 pm to 10:00 pm.  Pre-registration is required and more information can be found on the Auditions menu tab at the FCT website: www.FCTstage.org. Synopsis! Dirty Work at the Crossroads is a comedic melodrama that tells in laughable style the tear jerking story of Nellie Lovelace, a country girl. Munro Murgatroyd is the classic villian in the play who is intent on selling some land underhandedly to the railroad. He has a wife Ida Rhinegold, belle of the New Haven Music Halls, but that does not prevent him from pursuing Nellie. Nor does it prevent him from driving Adam Oakhart, the blacksmith’s son to vices, or from blackmailing rich Mrs. Asterbilt, or from bewitching her daughter, Leonie. There are a number of places in the plot where old time songs are introduced.

See the Play in January and February, 2026! Enjoy some laughter and find out what happens at the crossroads! The play takes place on Fridays and weekends from January 23, 2026 – February 8, 2026. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees are at 2 pm.
